Purchase Power

Couple of updates for you! I purchased the regular edition of Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves last Friday from Game.

Today I got the limited edition of Forza 3. It's much nicer than the one for the previous game. Although it's not in a tin the cardboard box feels nice and substantial and the lid splits to unfold to reveal a velvet (style) lined box with the key ring, memory stick and the game in it's own plastic box! Much better than the silly tins which are a pain every time you want to get the game out.

Personally, fun as the game is, I really can't see why it's so popular.

Not a huge amount too add. It remains a great game. Hugely fun online. My only problem is there's not enough tracks. After you've completed The X Games events and the World Tours and the special McRae championship I still had a huge number of events left to go.

All well and good but when you've got to grind your way through several events at, for instance, LA which has around 10 events (some of which are made up of 3 race events) and there's only 3 variations of the same basic course, one of which is a reverse, it gets dull pretty quick.

Overall though a hugely enjoyable game.

Purchase Power

I had a guitar lesson once as a kid. Sadly I'm tone deaf so I wasn't able to tune it. Thus it was a fairly short, but not sweet, experience.

However during a session on Halo 3 the other night with some of my regular friends an idea was born. To form a guitar hero based online band! Sure a couple of us where missing Guitar Hero 5... and in my case the Guitar peripheral itself. But the idea was genius!

Some online searches revealed that Amazon and Play where only offering £5 off of the RRP. I went to Game and bought it there and got (apparently) the last but one free promotional copy of Guitar Hero: World Tour thrown in!

The kid at the counter kindly informed me that I wouldn't like Guitar Hero 5 cos the music was rubbish but I'd probably enjoy World Tour. Just what you want to hear when you've spent £75.

Currently Playing: Ninja Gaiden 2: Sigma Demo

Downloaded the demo last night. I still don't understand why the PSN seems so much slower than X-Box Live. Especially when it's sharing the same broadband. However I left it on while I went out and happily it was done when I got in and had switched itself off.. I was too drunk to manage it.

Had a go this morning. With the speech in Japanese and the English subtitles on so I could follow the story. It certainly looks very nice. There is a stark sort of empty feel to the levels as the reviews have mentioned but still it's impressive.

But man is it hard. The bad guys pile in and start whittling your health bar down, seemingly before you can do anything.. Presumably I need to learn some tactics and I need to learn them quick. Then I couldn't work out where I was supposed to go.. I'm not sure whether the demo just finished or if I'm just stupid. I can see the full game testing my patience (and Sixaxis) to breaking point..

Still I tempted to go buy it.. I shouldn't really because there's so much on the horizon..
