Purchase Power

Apparently a new feature where I tell you how I've spent the cash.

Just won a Wii on eBay (If I say won it wont feel quite so painful). It's apparently brand new and unopened. If I've got the willpower I'll keep it unopened until Christmas Day and give it to myself as a present. Otherwise I may test it to be on the safe side.

I'd test it if I were you. It'd be so shit to open a dead machine on Christmas Day.

Yes.. I think a wee (ha ha) test is probably in order.. I was thinking I'll probably need to see what leads are included with a view to hooking it up to my TV anyway.

Obviously another Remote and a Mario Galaxy are essential purchases but anything else I should be looking out for PH? Especially on the VC? Oh is it wireless as well?

To be perfectly honest I can't really see the Wii as suiting you, Bob, but I'm willing to be proved wrong.

You will get shit composite leads in the box. It's just about bearable with SDTV but will look shit on your TV. You need to buy Component to take advantage of a progressive signal.

I think Edge has more or less been spot on with its reviews of Wii games so far. There are many good games for the machine but perhaps just a handful of great ones. In certain cases it depends on how many people you to play with - I'm on my tod so much of the 'okay but fun' titles aren't so fun.

I've enjoyed the few games I've bought for the Wii which are Zelda, WarioWare, Resident Evil 4, and SMG. I've forgotten to pre-order Resident Evil Chronicles though - might just pick it up if it's below £35 in the shops.I'm looking to finally get Metroid, Super Paper Mario and Zack & Wiki too.

To be honest with three machines on the go the paucity of games isn't so bad. The bonus is that the titles are unlike anything on the PS3 or X360.

Eurogamer compiles a VC round-up every so often, which is a good source of info. All I know is to avoid every Megadrive title if you seek perfection - not one has been optimised.

The Wii is as sweet as the PS3 when it comes to wifi - out of the box goodness.
